Investigators are working to determine the cause of four fires that damaged Flint Community School District buildings over the weekend.
The first fire was reported around 11 p.m. Saturday night near the old Whittier Classical Academy. Thirty minutes later, another fire was reported at the vacant Central High School building and a third fire was reported at 2 a.m. at the old Flint Northern High School. A classroom fire was reported at the McKinley Middle School building around 7 a.m.
The fire at the Flint Northern High School was the third fire in that building since October, officials told WNEM.com.
“As soon as I heard it was on fire, I was like, ‘I need to get this. I want people to be able to see what is happening in our city. And these buildings are not going to be around forever, so partly capturing their history,” redient Brook Snider said.
“What if the house next door to me catches up and spreads to my property, or somebody I know? It’s just so unpredictable,” Snider said.
Residents expressed concerns that they don't know what will be set fire to next, hoping it's not their homes.
Officials from the city said no injuries were reported.
