Portland Fire & Rescue officials say they've had to improvise due to the shortage of AMR ambulances.

When a man was stobbed in Gresham over the weekend, there was no ambulance available to take him to the hispital.

So, he was put in the back seat of a Gresham police cruiser. It isn't the first time, and will likely not be the last, KOIN reported.

Portland Fire & Rescue officials say they've had to improvise due to the shortage.

AMR officers have been at odds with Multnomah County, recently asking that the staffing go from two paramedics per unit to a medic and an EMT.

Other nearby areas only require one of each.

Recently, the Gresham City Council voted to demand Multnomah County adopt the one paramedic/one EMT model. But nothing has changed.
