Robert Karnow

Robert Karnow is a captain/paramedic with the El Dorado Hills Fire Department (EDHFD) in Northern California. He started his career in 1990, first working for the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection (Tuolumne/Calaveras, Riverside and Amador/El Dorado Ranger Units) and later as a firefighter/paramedic with Sacramento City Fire Department. In 2000, Karnow started with EDHFD, working his way through the ranks from firefighter to engineer and now captain/paramedic. He has managed the department’s PPE, SCBA and EVOC, and assisted with many other internal programs. He is also a safety officer resource for the California Office of Emergency Services mutual-aid system. Karnow has an associate’s degree in fire technology, a bachelor’s degree in occupational studies in the fire/police service, and is currently working on his master’s degree in occupational health and safety with environmental management.
