Michelle A. Copeland, CIH, is the president of Occupational Safety Resource Inc., practicing Occupational Safety and Health since 1978. Her background is practical and broad-based, having worked as an occupational safety and health consultant, a corporate in-house safety and health representative, and an expert witness for both plaintiff’s and defense attorneys. Copeland's approach to occupational safety and health programming and training is creative and innovative. With a background in total quality systems and having been a Certified ISO 9000 Auditor, she brings a total quality approach to the development and implementation of safety programs and training. Copeland was involved with the post-9/11 litigation on behalf of the plaintiffs involved in the initial response and follow-up, including police and fire. She has assisted clients with issues regarding diesel exhaust in manufacturing, fire stations, and community-based settings. In the 1990s she assisted the management of the remote Ekati Diamond Mine in Yellowknife, Northwest Territory, to improve their emergency response and crisis management programs.
