Terrell Hills, Texas, Gets First Custom Cab Pumper

Feb. 3, 2015
Terrell Hills has taken delivery of its first custom cab and chassis apparatus, a Sutphen pumper introducing the brand to the region.

Firefighters with the Terrell Hills Fire Department, within the city limits of San Antonio, has recently placed into service a 2014 Sutphen Guardian pumper, the first of its kind in the area and the first custom cab and chassis based pumper the department has ever had.

According to Lt. Garrett Sanders, prior to the purchase of the Sutphen, the department had only commercial cabs and chassis because the old fire station bay doors would not accommodate custom apparatus. Shortly after the new city administration complex was completed the department ordered the new apparatus with a six-occupant cab and a 10-inch raised roof. The new pumper carries equipment that previously had to be carried on two separate apparatus.

It's also equipped with Class A foam injection system, a 200-foot cord reel and scene lights on all four sides of the apparatus.

The pumper is the first Sutphen apparatus in the area and the department is very proud to introduce the brand to the area.
