The Hampton Township, Pa., Volunteer Fire Department recently took delivery of a Darley WASP fire apparatus to protect their community. WASP stands for Wildland Attack Structural Pumper.

It's built on a Ford 4x4 four-door cab and chassis powered by a 6.7 liter 300 hp engine. To fight fire, has a 1,500-gpm pump, a Foam Pro model 2001 foam proportioner and a 120 CFM rotary screw air compressor for a true CAFS apparatus.

The Darley AutoCAFS package supplies five discharges and helps stretch the 300-gallons on board with 25 gallons of foam.

The PolyBilt body was chosen to maximize space by incorporating the compartments and the tanks in a one-piece design. ladders and various pike poles are stored on the top of the body in the hosebed area.

A front bumper/grill guard is home to a front trashline hose well and a hitch receiver. A second receiver is located in the rear as well. Other equipment includes Whelen Pioneer Plus Series LED lamp heads and Whelen 3000 series telescoping poles.

The interior includes a custom-built floor console that spans from front to back and includes numerous mounts for radios, flashlight chargers and a thermal imaging camera.
