Ware, Mass., needed to replace its Engine 3 and when firefighters started reviewing their options, it was decided that combining the truck with their rescue truck would make sense.
Members of the Ware Fire Department began a year-long educational process which included members of the department along with elected members of the Town. This process included a trip to the 2014 New England Fire Expo. Following the day-long trip viewing a variety of manufacturers the committee settled on Ferrara's MVP. Funding was secured from the taxpayers at Town Meeting which established the budget.
The apparatus was designed and an order was place in December 2014 and delivered in late June 2015. The MVP apparatus is built on a Cinder cab and chassis with over 550 cubic feet of storage space. It has a Cummins 450 hp engine, an Allison transmission, a Hale QMAX 1,750-gpm pump, a 1,000-gallon UPF tank. It also has a Command Light 2 with all LED lights.
