'Blueberry Capitol of World,' Hammonton, N.J., Picks Up New Pumper

The Town of Hammonton Volunteer Fire Department, Atlantic County, N.J., which covers "the Blueberry Capitol of the World," has purchased a 2016 rescue pumper built by Marion Body Works on a Spartan Gladiator LFD cab and chassis.

The Town of Hammonton Volunteer Fire Department, Atlantic County, N.J., which covers "the Blueberry Capitol of the World," has purchased a 2016 rescue pumper built by Marion Body Works on a Spartan Gladiator LFD cab and chassis. The unit is powered by a 450-hp Cummins ISL engine and an Allison 3000EVP transmission. It also has a raised roof with full-height doors and climate control. To fight fire, it has a 1,500-gpm, single-stage Waterous pump, a 750-gallon UPF Poly Tank III with a 20-gallon integral foam cell, and an Akron A/B foam system. Other equipment includes a Kussmaul auto-eject battery and air conditioning system, LED compartment lighting, slide-out tool trays, saws, fans, tarps forcible entry tools, and Hurst hydraulic extrication tools. It's also equipped with a Will-Burt NightScan light tower, a Harrison 30,000-watt hydraulic generator, Paratech struts, Hannay electric reel, ladder tunnel, rope and water rescue equipment Hannay reels, Maxi-Force air bags, Ramsey portable winch, and a Federal Q2B mechanical siren.
