Lemon Springs, NC, VFD Puts Custom Pumper in Service

Firefighters with the Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Sanford, NC, have purchased a new pumper built by Toyne on a Spartan Metro Star cab and chassis.

Firefighters with the Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Sanford, NC, have purchased a new pumper built by Toyne on a Spartan Metro Star cab and chassis with a 10-inch raised roof. It is powered by a Cummins ISL 380-hp engine and a Allison 3000EVS transmission. To fight fire, it has a Waterous CS 1,250-gpm pump and a UPF 1,000-gallon tank. It also has a Harrison 6,000-watt hydraulic generator and Akron telescoping lights.

The Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1981 and works to protect a community of 28,518 residents, covering 24 square miles, including the city of Sanford which was incorporated in 1874, 31   years before Lee County. The apparatus was sold by the Melton Fire Group, Columbia, SC.
