Fall River, MA, Fire Department was looking to replace its aging fleet and the first unit to arrive is a Ferrara pumper. The apparatus is built on a Ferrara Igniter cab and chassis powered by a Cummins 450-hp engine and an Allison 3000EVS transmission. To fight fire, it has a Hale Q-Max 1,500-gpm pump, a 750-gallon tank with a 75-gallon foam cell and a FoamPro 2002 system. The truck has a 186-inch overall wheelbase and an overall length of 30 feet 9 inches. It is the first of nearly four identical engines and one 80-foot mid-mount tower to be built by Ferrara Fire Apparatus. They were sold by Bill Middlemiss and Chad McCormack, Specialty Vehicles, Inc. of North Attleboro, MA.
