Coventry, CT, Vol. Fire Association Puts Pumper/Tanker in Service

Members of the Coventry, CT, Volunteer Fire Association has taken delivery of a Midwest Fire, side-control tanker/pumper built on a Freightliner 114SD cab and chassis.

Members of the Coventry, CT, Volunteer Fire Association has taken delivery of a Midwest Fire, side-control tanker/pumper built on a Freightliner 114SD cab and chassis. It is powered by a Cummins ISL 400 hp engine and an Allison 3000EVS transmission. To fight fire, it has a Hale QMAX 1,250-gpm split-shaft pump and a 3,000-gallon APR polypropylene tank. Other equipment includes two Storz direct-fill and tank level gauges, three Newton 10-inch square dump valves, Zico electric portable tank carrier and an All-Poly construction body with R.O.M. anodized roll-up doors. It's also equipped with Hanscom rear-view camera, Whelen warning and scene lights, and a Kussmaul battery conditioner.
