An 18-year-old Kansas firefighter -- wearing a seatbelt -- suffered only minor injuries Sunday night when the fire truck she was driving rolled over.

Candace Wiens was driving the District 3 fire engine when she lost control after applying the brakes, according to KAKE.com.

The young driver told officers she  began to apply the brakes to slow down when the front wheels began to turn. The truck left the roadway and she over-corrected, veering into the other lane. The truck rolled once into the ditch.

The engine sustained extensive damage in the 9:30 p.m. crash.

Weins was taken to the hospital for a check-up.
