Eight D.C. Firefighters Hurt when Two Apparatus Collide

The trucks collided at an intersection while they were responding to an apartment fire in Southeast D.C.

Two D.C. fire trucks headed to an apartment fire collided injuring eight firefighters Friday night. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

According to NBCWashington.com, the crash happened at an intersection at about 7 p.m. as crews were headed to the blaze in Southeast D.C.

Fox5 DC reported that four firefighters in each truck were injured, but all are expected to be OK.

The fire the two apparatus were responding to was just a few blocks away, according to a television station report. Firefighters rescued a woman and a cat from the blaze. Both are expected to recover.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
