The Jersey City Fire Department has placed into service, what Chief of Department Steve McGill described as the first municipal three-stage pumper in the state.
Engine Co. 6 is a 2019 Pierce Enforcer with a Waterous model CMU/CGV 2000-500 three-stage pump, plus a 500-gallon polypropylene water tank. It has a Detroit Diesel 13 525-hp engine and Allison 4000 EVS P transmission.
The cab has seating for five and cabinet space.The downtown engine company has a 199.5-inch wheelbase, 26-inch extended front bumper with hose tray plus a front inlet. There are free floating running board hose beds on both sides of the apparatus. The tailboard is 16-inches deep.
The hose bed capacity includes: 750-feet of 2-inch; 750-feet of 2.5-inch; 750-feet of 1.75-inch; and 1,000-feet of 5-inch hose. Additional features include adjustable shelves, slide out trays, two 6.0-inch hard suctions (clear corrugated), LED hose bed strip lighting and an Akron monitor.
Another feature is an LED beacon indicating that the high-pressure pump is engaged. It is located on the top of the crew cab, towards the back edge, roof center. It also has a Federal Signal Q2B mechanical siren.
