OH Firefighters Injured in Ambulance Crash

Dec. 26, 2019
Two Columbus firefighters were among four people taken to the hospital in stable condition after a car ran a red light and struck an ambulance transporting a patient.

A late-afternoon crash involving a medic Wednesday sent two Columbus firefighters to the hospital and left the ambulance badly damaged.

The crash occurred just after 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, as a Columbus medic transporting a victim from a separate crash traveled to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, said Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin.

At the intersection of East Broad Street and North Grant Avenue, another vehicle ran a red light, crashing into the ambulance and causing significant damage, Martin said.

The two firefighters, the patient in the ambulance, and the driver of the other vehicle all were taken to Grant in stable condition.

Their names and further details weren't available.
