Great Bend, KS, Puts Second Sister Engine in Service

The Great Bend, KS, Fire/EMS Department has put in service a second Toyne pumper, which is a twin to the first, to provide services to the residents of the 156 square mile service area. The pumper is built on a Spartan Gladiator LFD cab and chassis with a 10-inch raised roof. It is powered by a Cummins ISL 450 hp engine and an Allison 3000EVS transmission. It is equipped with a Waterous fire pump, a 750-gallon UPF tank, a FoamPro 2001 Class A systm, and a Cummins-Onan 6,000-watt hydraulic generator. It also has Fire Research telescoping scene lights. “The compatibility between the two engines and the two stations is going to help our drivers and engineers a lot,” said Captain Eric Yoder, a member of Great Bend’s truck committee. The apparatus is a sister engine to the Toyne pumper the department received in 2012.
