HME-Ahrens Fox built a custom pumper with a short wheelbase to meet the needs of the Lockheed Martin Fire Department in Marietta, GA.

Indianapolis, IND – Lockheed Martin (Marietta, GA) selects HME SFO engine to meet the critical and expansive demands of their Fire Department.

Initially constructed in during World War II, the Lockheed Martin (Marietta, GA) campus is massive with structures totaling 4.2 million square-feet. Unlike more recently constructed Lockheed Martin locations, this legacy campus presents unique fire suppression, airfield support and emergency service demands. This campus manufacturers the Lockheed C-130J Hercules and houses other aircraft support, maintenance, and product development operations.

“While state-of-the-art when built in 1942, the Marietta campus has aging fire protection systems and very limited access points,” said Deputy Chief, Keenyn Hutto (US), Lockheed Martin Fire Department (Marietta, GA). “This is one of the key reasons we specified the HME Ahrens-Fox SFO as our Class A Pumper. It is well suited to fulfill the breadth of needs we manage on the campus.”

“The HME SFO has a long history of fulfilling the needs of fire departments and fleets across the USA and Canada and we are proud to manufacture apparatus and support customers such as Lockheed Martin (Marietta, GA),” said Gary Troost, President, HME Ahrens-Fox.

“This new engine with an overall length of just 24’ 5”, creates much needed access points that are not easily fulfilled with more conventional fire apparatus,” said Tripp Daugherty, Director of Sales & Marketing, Brackett’s Fire Equipment, the HME Dealer that assisted the Fire Department in specifying and sourcing the new engine.

The Hale Qmax (1500 GPM) and 1,000 Gallon tank fulfill are just a couple of the key features enabling the SFO to meet Lockheed’s needs - from initial attack and AARF resupply to a number of other deployments.

“Our Emergency Response Fleet is diverse and includes multiple AARF units, heavy rescues, aerials, and foam trucks. All of our Class A engines are supplied by HME. This new SFO keeps us on schedule with our replacement cycle plan and allow us to move one of our 2012 (MY) SFOs to reserve status,” said Assistant, Chief James Covell (US), Lockheed Martin Fire Department (Marietta).

On display within the SoundOff Signal exhibit booth at FDIC International 2023, the SFO has been equipped with a collection of new lighting options including:

  • mpower Perimeter Lights and P-Series Scene Lights (7x3)
  • mFUSE xl Dual Level, and Dual Color Lightbars (2-24” & 3-42”)
  • mpower Traffic Controller (Tri-Color)
  • Rear beacon 1x1 Single Stack with Flat Mount
  • FR100 Series Siren
