After each emergency response, we should take the time to review the incident with all responding members. This review can vary from a brief discussion to a full-fledged incident review. Regardless of the style, critical information needs to be gathered and shared with all responders to better prepare them for the next emergency call. In this series, two in-depth review styles will be discussed-the post-incident analysis (PIA) and the decision-making critique (DMC).

A post-incident analysis is a common style used to review incident operations. A synonym for PIA is "incident critique" or "critique". As defined in The American Heritage
