Identify the two possible locations of BMW stored-gas airbag inflator modules and describe how extrication tasks can be affected by the presence of these units.
SUBJECT:Stored-Gas Airbag Inflator ModulesTOPIC:BMW roof and door airbag systems.OBJECTIVE:Understand safety concerns and changes in rescue procedures necessary when working near stored-gas airbag inflator modules.TASK:Identify the two possible locations of BMW stored-gas airbag inflator modules and describe how extrication tasks can be affected by the presence of these units.
The deployed BMW Head Protection System (HPS) airbag is attached to the base of the A-pillar and along the roof rail by black nylon tether straps. The bag is filled with argon and helium gas delivered from the stored gas inflator module mounted to the inside of the A-pillar.
