The KME PRO rescue pumper is a multi-purpose response vehicle designed to address the ever-changing needs of today’s fire service. With a standard 382 cubic feet of compartmentation and a larger body option of up to 580 cubic feet, departments can carry the equivalent of a heavy rescue full of tools and equipment. The driver-side compartmentation is full height/full depth, which allows for unlimited storage options. The PRO short wheelbase is only 176 inches, providing for a highly maneuverable turning radius. Other features include a best-in-class rating of 2,000 gpm, 1,000-gallon water tank, 20-gallon foam cell and a direct injection foam system that can deliver Class A or Class B foam to multiple discharges. Suctions and discharges have been completely eliminated from the pump operator work area and moved to the front, rear and officer’s side of the truck. The discharges and suctions are electrically operated and a camera system lets the operator see the other side of the truck to maintain view of hydrant and pump operations. The diagrammatic pump panel makes operating the system easier than ever.

United Plastic Fabricating Inc. has delivered a 500-gallon AR-AFFF foam trailer to the South Eastern New Hampshire Hazardous Materials Mutual Aid District for response to ethanol or hydrocarbon flammable liquid incidents. The trailer carries 500 gallons of 1%-3% AR-AFFF foam concentrate and has two 200-foot, 125-gpm 1¾-inch foam handlines and a 300-foot, 250-gpm 2½-inch foam handline. All handlines are equipped with pistol-grip nozzles with clip-on foam expansion tubes. The trailer also carries a lightweight demountable monitor with a 500-gpm Elkhart Hydro-Foam nozzle, pre-connected 100-foot transfer hose, 2,000-watt generator and two 500-watt floodlights.

METALCRAFT MARINE 

The North Charleston, SC, Fire Department has taken delivery of a MetalCraft Marine FireStorm 32 fireboat featuring two 480-hp Cummins engines and a 1,750-gpm Darley pump. The boat’s shallow draft, maneuverability and firefighting capability are designed for operation in shallow waters close to concentrated shoreline populations, around busy recreational traffic and commercial shipping routes. The diesel waterjet configuration is able to operate in very shallow waters without risk to damaging the drive unit from hitting submerged objects. A remote operated monitor mounted on the cabin roof provides the primary firefighting capability from a dedicated console within the cabin and an optional secondary monitor can be mounted on the bow.
