The Buzz on Technical Rescue

June 1, 2013

Each year, the expansion of the technical rescue segment provides more knowledge for our readers and listeners. Listed are a few of the topic areas that you will be seeing during the coming year.

• Early 2013 and 2012 have providing another wave of unique challenges to the emergency response community. These challenges included multiple large-scale natural disasters and a number of man-made tragedies. In response to these events, Firehouse® Magazine and Firehouse.com will be providing lessons learned and incident-based coverage related to many of these events.

• Our enhanced coverage of aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) continued with the second segment in the series in our April issue.

• As a follow-up to our recent podcast “SUSAR and the Air National Guard – A Joint Effort” we will be working on developing more content related to our military firefighting and emergency response operations.

• Also look for our quarterly e-newsletter, which highlights many of the current activities in the technical rescue field.

At Firehouse.com you can enjoy “The Buzz on Technical Rescue” Check out one of our recently released programs, “Tech Rescue Close Calls, in which Brian Kazmierzak, director of operations at Firefighter Close Calls, discusses various close calls related to technical rescue operations. Brian has been involved with a number of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) line-of-duty-death investigations related to technical rescue.
