APRIL 1: LANHAM, MD – A massive three-alarm fire ripped through an upscale apartment complex. As many as 200 firefighters battled the flames.

APRIL 16: FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – A 62-year-old man was charged with burning an occupied building and other felonies after setting fire to an apartment in a high-rise apartment complex. The incident began when police, responding to a call of loud music, were threatened by the suspect with a weapon and detected a strong hazardous materials odor.

APRIL 21: DELRAY BEACH, FL – Crews responded to a vehicle crash in which a van struck the side of a tractor-trailer, resulting in injuries to the van’s driver and a large fuel spill. The tractor-trailer’s fuel tank was ruptured, causing about 20 gallons of fuel to be spilled onto the ground. Removing the van’s driver from the vehicle was impeded by large amounts of fuel on the ground around the van. She was later transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
