Recent fires from around the country.

Clifton, NJ, April 16, 2015—Clifton, NJ, firefighters battled flames in a 2½-story frame dwelling. Two tower ladders, one deck gun and several handlines were put into operation as heavy fire swept throughout the original fire building and heavily damaged the second floor and attic of exposure D. As conditions deteriorated, all members were pulled from the buildings. No civilians were reported injured, but four firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Detroit, May 25, 2015—Detroit 1st Battalion responded to the scene of an overturned tanker truck fully involved in the area of the I-75 and I-375 interchange. Engine 1 assumed incident command and requested extra companies for water supply. Hazmat Level II was declared, and the Marathon Refinery Fire Department was requested for its foam rig. Crews attempted fire attack with Engine 1’s monitor until foam units arrived on the scene. Companies operated on the scene for several hours to bring this incident under control.

Leominster, MA, May 25, 2015—Three engines and one ladder were on the initial dispatch to a fire in Leominster, MA, but an off-duty firefighter arrived on scene first and noted heavy fire and smoke visible from the building. Engine 4 stretched two 2½-inch lines and gave the exterior a quick hit before a 1¾-inch line was stretched for overhauling.
