Miami, FL, May 13, 2017—Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Engine 37 arrived to a working fire at a fish farm. Size-up determined that multiple oxygen tanks were being impinged on by the fire. Engine 37 pulled two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch attack lines, and a cooling stream was immediately applied to the tanks. The battalion chief arrived on the scene and assumed incident command and requested a second alarm due to fire conditions and exposure problems.

Woodman, CA, May 25, 2017—Crews responded to a greater alarm structure fire in a strip mall. Heavy smoke conditions were encountered as first-arriving firefighting units tried to force entry into several locked units. The fire was deep seated in the corner of the L-shaped structure. The fire eventually became well established in the common attic space. It took crews approximately one hour to quash the flames.

Eldorado, KS, May 14, 2017—Fire crews responded to a backyard pool house fire. Upon arrival, crews found the structure fully involved. After an aggressive attack, the fire was contained and limited to the shed and some adjoining privacy fence.

New Orleans, LA, May 20, 2017—Crews from the New Orleans Fire Department battled four-alarm fire in a two-story, mixed-use commercial structure. Shortly after the third-alarm was requested, the roof of the building collapsed, causing the building’s exterior walls to fall into the street. Firefighters quickly positioned crews to protect the occupied dwellings to the immediate left and rear of the fire building, and were ultimately able to limit the fire’s damage to adjacent properties to just radiant heat exposure to one exterior wall on each.
