Welcome!

Aug. 10, 2009

Welcome to the bleeding edge of change. As I have traveled around this great country (and internationally) I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from some very talented fire and emergency service leaders. I have also learned that many of the problems you face are very similar to those faced by others. However, I am continually amazed at how much variation there is in the solutions to those problems. This blog is dedicated to discussing your unique challenges and for sharing ideas about how you (and/or your department) has met and overcome difficult situations. Whether you are being challenged by training, operations, prevention, administration, politics, funding, equipment, leadership, communications, or whatever, this is the place to get it off your chest… and hopefully in the process receive and share some good advice with peers. So sound off! However, please be professional. It’s ok to be passionate, but don’t be emotional. As we have our discussions, I encourage disagreement, but strongly discourage you from being disagreeable. Thank you for visiting (and hopefully contributing) to making the fire service better.
