NC Firefighter to Compete in TV's 'Man Vs. Bear'

Dec. 15, 2019
Greensboro firefighter Hannah Johnson will be one of the three contestants to face off against three bear opponents on Wednesday's episode of the Discovery series.

A North Carolina firefighter is set to appear on this week's episode of a TV competition show that will pit her against an unusual and unusually hairy opponent.

Hannah Johnson, a 36-year-old Greensboro firefighter, will be one of the competitors on the Discovery Channel series "Man Vs. Bear," which airs Wednesday. As the title suggests, the show has humans facing off against bears each week in a variety of challenges, including tree climbing, tug-of-war and eating.

In Wednesday's episode, Johnson is one of three humans who will be competing against three bears in five challenges from the animals' home in Utah. The winner of the episode will be the human with the most points, and the three competitors with the most points at the end of the season will face off in the finale.

The show is hosted by Brandon Tierney and Casey Anderson.
