The Congressional Fire Services Institute is accepting applications for the CFSI/Masimo Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Award. The presentation of the 2016 awards will take place May 5, 2016, at the 28th Annual National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner in Washington, DC.

Established in 2010, the Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Award honors fire departments for innovations and improvements in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care. The actions taken by these departments should have a positive impact on firefighter and paramedic safety, resource deployment, and/or enhanced fire service-based EMS services. The award recognizes departments in three separate categories: career, volunteer, and combination.

"We are looking for departments that are forward-thinking in their approach to EMS - departments that are developing and instituting change to adapt to the growing demand for pre-hospital emergency medical care," said CFSI Executive Director Bill Webb. "Masimo shares this vision as a manufacturer of innovative EMS equipment, which is why CFSI is proud to have them as a co-sponsor of this award." Information on the Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Awards program is located at Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Award.

The deadline for submission is April 1, 2016. A representative of each of the recipient departments will receive a trip to Washington, DC for the award presentations.

Sponsored by the Congressional Fire Services Institute, the 28th Annual National Fire and Emergency Service Dinner is the capstone event of the 2016 National Fire and Emergency Services Symposium that will be held on May 4th and 5th in Washington, DC. Attended by approximately 2,000 fire service leaders, the program will feature an array of activities and events that enable participants to engage in discussions with prominent leaders involved in developing fire service legislation and policies at the federal level.
