KS Firefighters Feed Baby, Shovel after Mom's 9-1-1 Call

Olathe firefighters not only helped the new mother with a stuck wedding ring, but they also chipped in around the house.

A new Kansas mom received more help than she expected after a call for help over a stuck wedding ring. The Olathe firefighters who responded also pitched in with a few chores around her house.

Jessica Giffin had called 9-1-1 on Tuesday when her finger started to swell and turn blue after putting on her wedding ring for the first time since before her pregnancy, KMBC-TV reports. That's when members of the Olathe Fire Department came out to her home to try to solve the situation.

But as the firefighters were working to get the ring off, Giffin's son, Luke, woke up hungry.

“One of the firemen swooped right in, gave him his bottle, and was even burping him,” Giffin told KMBC.

By the time firefighters had cut off her ring to remove it, a second crew had arrived to let out the dogs and shovel her drive.

“I felt like I had a room full of angels and the comfort they provided was God sent,” she added.
