Watch 2-Year-Old Help CA Firefighters Put Out Blaze

Fresno firefighters received extra help on a recent call thanks to a 2-year-old boy who came running out decked out in his own firefighting gear.

Firefighters with the Fresno Fire Department had unexpected help battling a burning shed last week.

Decked out in his own gear, 2-year-old Jackson McNary ran out with his plastic axe and whistle to see if the crew needed an extra member. The firefighters decided to take him up on the offer, giving him a turn on the hose.

"I saw this young firefighter who was about 3 feet tall, dressed in full turnouts with a red plastic helmet," Battalion Chief Thomas Cope told KFSN-TV. "I didn't recognize this firefighter I thought he must be a rookie in our department."

Jackson's gear was part of a Halloween costume, but his fascination with firefighting goes deeper than just dressing up on a holiday. And Judy McNary, Jackson's grandmother, was happy to see the firefighters fuel that interest.

"It was wonderful," she told KFSN. "It was great to see the firemen interact with him and be kind to him."
