Church Thanks Indy FFs for Extinguishing 2017 Fire

Broadway United Methodist Church held a special service Sunday for the Indianapolis firefighters who saved the building from burning down.

Parishioners thanked Indianapolis firefighters for battling a 2017 fire at their church with a special service Sunday.

In December 2017, crews put out a blaze at the Broadway United Methodist Church, WISH-TV reports. Although the fire was kept to a single room, other parts of the building sustained smoke and soot damage and need repairs.

Since the fire, the church has raised about $25,000 to help pay for renovations, including new chandeliers and ceilings, according to WISH. With the work nearly complete, the church invited the firefighters who responded to the 2017 call for a special service and to share a meal,
