Joe Blank has been in the fire service since 1987. He is currently a captain for the City of Saint Paul, Minn, assigned to the Arson Unit. He led Saint Paul Fire's Recruit Academies from 2010-2013 and served as a training officer for the department’s training division, teaching company level training including: auto extrication, truck and bus Extrication, rapid intervention, multi-company operations, fire equipment operator, advanced pumping tactics, high-rise operations and Blue Card Command training. In addition, he is one of the developers and lead instructors for the department’s truck company and squad company apprenticeship programs.
Joe is also a co-owner of Make-the-Move Training, LLC, which delivers quality, customized fire training by experienced firefighters by teaching lessons passed down or learned through years of experience as "street smart" firefighters.
Joe is the lead instructor for Century College's Fire Training Program where he has taught fire and EMS since 1995. He is also a certified fire instructor teaching for a variety of technical colleges throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin and has an associates degree in fire protection.
Prior to joining St. Paul Fire in 2001, Joe served as a paramedic for HCMC EMS in Minneapolis and before that as firefighter and lieutenant for the Northamption Township Fire Company in the Philadelphia, Penn. suburbs.
