Med Sled Launches Nationwide Emergency Drinking Water Program

May 26, 2015
Med Sled has partnered with First Water to develop an Emergency Drinking Water Program that can replace long-term care facilities’ ineffective and outdated reliance on bottled water.

Med Sled has partnered with First Water, the number one provider of mobile water purification systems to healthcare facilities, to develop an Emergency Drinking Water Program that can replace long-term care facilities’ ineffective and outdated reliance on bottled water during water disruptions.

“Long-term care facilities require a substantial amount of clean water to operate," said Joe Pandolfo, president of ARC Products, LLC/Med Sled. "With more than 280,000 water disruptions annually, accessible drinking water is a major concern for most facilities. To date, most facilities have assumed that the only solution is bottled water, which is expensive, takes up valuable space and does not address other critical water needs.”

Through the Emergency Drinking Water Program, Med Sled and First Water will provide cost-effective and efficient mobile water purification systems that address long-term care facilities’ drinking water needs while also addressing operational needs. This solution will satisfy state and The Joint Commission drinking water requirements. By eliminating the need for bottled water, the Emergency Drinking Water Program will save time, money and inventory space.

The program provides an excellent return on investment compared to the traditional bottled water solution, often allowing a recovery of expenses in fewer than 18 months. The program enables facilities to produce filtered drinking water on demand for residents and staff while eliminating the annual operating cost of purchasing bottled water and offering a scalable solution to address pressurized water needs such as ice machines and cafeteria operations.

“When I looked at the devastation of the tsunamis and the situation after Hurricane Katrina, I realized that the time delay in getting bottled water is extreme,” said Will Ewing, fire chief & city emergency manager, Toledo, Ore.. “Stockpiling water is simply not feasible. If you are vulnerable to geological or water events, I recommend the solutions from First Water.”
