Tempe, AZ, Firefighters Race to Save Driver who Nearly Hit Them

The Tempe firefighters were playing pickleball in a lot outside their fire station when the incident occurred.

A group of Tempe firefighters went from running for their lives to racing to help the driver who nearly struck them.

They were outside their station playing pickleball when a vehicle careened through the parking lot and sent them scrambling.

The vehicle came to a stop after striking parked trucks just feet from them, TV3 repoted.

One firefighter immediately ran toward the driver and dragged him out of the vehicle, while others went to grab equipment.

The firefighters went from running for their lives to running to help the driver. This shows the professionalism of these firefighters,” said Tempe Interim Fire Chief Darrell Duty said.

The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the incident.
