Heard from a freind of mine today that DEC is not letting apparatus in the booth spaces next to the lake due to enviromental concerns. Pay big bucks for space and not be able to use it, that sucks.

well if thats indeed true, could that put the final nail into the coffin of a show thats just a shadow of what it once was? I guess theres less vendors there every year.

Was there yesterday and there were more trucks than the past two years. Great weather, a bit tight in the display area but worth the trip.

Well, I'm there as we speak. The parking is terrible, show layout is terrible, a lot of the vendors are upset over their spaces not turning out to be what they paid big bucks for. Attendence looked sparse as well. Having attended FDIC and Harrisburg so far this year, I must say this isn't even close. The days of the NYSC show being one of the premier shows (when it was at the Concord) are over. Time for the Association to get out of the show business and focus on training and education. There are too many top quality shows in the N/E to pick from. Struggling every year to try to be what they used to be, then failing miserably is only going to hurt the Association.

It was a good run for many years, but now its time to step aside and let the shows that have what it takes to make it work take over.

I was in Lake George @ Chiefs show this year as a vendor. The apparatus was CRAMMED into a small lot behind fences.DEC would not give any slack on parking spots for anyone.
The big tents were ok,but vendors were crammed in like cattle ,or at least it felt that ways.
2009 Chiefs Expo is at Turning Stone Resort near Syracuse.I hope it fares better there.I am hoping it returns to State Fair grounds again in Syracuse.
Foot traffic was slow and quiet. They gave away so many free 1 day passes you have thought attendance would have been better.
Curious to see how Turning Stone does turn out.

First off I think it was much nicer than Lake George much more like the Kiameisha Lake Days. Some of the problems can be over come. Firstly the apparatus and the inside vendors were a good distance away from each other. Secondly The apparatus vendors along the parking garage should be moved to the parking lot where the rest of us were. The wlectric power was slow in coming. If the facilities people want an path way cleared then they should set they pathway when determining the vendor spaces. The vendor parking could have easily been in the next lower parking area. the trailers and "excess" apparatus could be across the street.

The major drawback is that it isn't some place to take the younger kids.
