Specing a new Heavy Rescue. Can anyone give me thoughts on Hackney's Heavy Rescues?

Although I haven't used them for fire use, their beverage bodies(which are the same design) are just about bulletproof. After hauling beer for a couple of years, I found out that these trucks take a really good beating and keep working well. The doors are easily field repairable and will withstand quite a beating. The other nice thing is that each side has a lock on each side. This alows a positive lock for all of the doors on each side, and gives you the ability to put a padlock on if you feel the need. The truck are definitly well built and I would imagine that it would transfer well to fire service applications. The trailers always towed well and kept looking good with minimal washing.

I've never run one, but the drop/pinched frame is interesting, gives you more space down low.
I'd be inclined to stay away from the electric stairway gimmicks and so forth, to keep the thing simple and have less stuff to break.

Check out their website: www.rescueleader.com
Their units don't look anything like a beverage truck at all. They have made some real good changes in design and ways to maximize storage space!!

They have been great to work with. I will be heading to the plant on Thurs to final our light rescue. We have a drawing on our website if you want to take a look.

Great product I worked for another division of VTSVC and I can tell you they have their stuff together, I think when it comes to pure rescues there is no one who is close to them. Big Fan

The only comment I can make is I think I would have done something different in the rear compartment.
Just plain WOW.
Sexy Truck!

Hackney builds some nice trucks.
Solid bodies that are the ultimate utilitarian truck.
AFAIK, no body else except Pierce offers the drop-pinch frame. The amount of compartment space this adds is unreal.
Dollar for dollar, the best value in a Rescue/Special Service type truck you can buy.

Not true......Summit does it as well, although quite a crude attempt IMO.

With Hackney's Drop Pinch Frame they are the ONLY body manufacturer that will get the lifetime frame warranty on the frame modification. If Pierce wins a bid with a drop pinch frame, the first thing they do is try to talk you out of it. Summit does it, but it is VERY crude and NO frame warranty from the chassis manufacturer!!
