We are looking at a new bus. We have had Road Rescue, Lifeline, Horton, McCoy Miller, Wheeled Coach and Marque. Not happy with the dealer service on any of them. So we are looking to find something new. We have looked at the Crestline Ambulance it looks like a nice rig and nice crash/roll cage box. Anyone have any insight on the crestline product?
Thanks

I've spent part of my past life in a Crestline. I was always very impressed with it's quality and craftsmanship. The chassis is of course up to the customer to decide, but their bodies are well constructed, great headroom (I'm 6'4") and did minimum amounts of slouching. There is a ton of cabinet space and great lighting.
Because of strict regulations in Canada, the only two survivors in the manufacturing field of Ambulance bodies are Crestline and Demers. While I don't mind the Demers, it had it's downfalls ie. tighter body, (Good on a lady, not on a bus) also a persist issue with one Demers design included the shower feature up front. One particular style was notorious for letting rain water in.
Hope this could help.
Cheers

You may want to check out TriStar industries in Yarmouth,NS Canada. They seem to build a good product and are used worldwide.

Swab Wagon Inc. was the inventor the modular ambulance body. they built the first one for Baltimore Md.
I will not advertise for my manufacturer nor point out any "problems" with the others because last time I did that I got chastised. If you want to know more PM me.

My former EMS service operates exclusively Crestline ambulances. They have approximately 32 of them. The majority are of the Fleetmax model, with a few Commanders thrown in. The older ones are all E-350's while the newer ones are on the Chevy chassis.
Ride is as good can be expected for a type III ambulance. Fit & finish is good. They certainly take the abuse in a busy urban EMS system, with most units putting on around 200-220,000 miles before being retired.
Have seen many of them in collisions, including some fairly serious ones. They stand up very well.
The Ontario government ambulance spec is very high on safety related testing. http://www.ambulance-transition.com/pdf_documents/land_amb_emergency_response_ve hicle_standard.pdf
Crestline would certainly be worthy of considering.

A nearby transport service has 6 crestline ambulances , type iii on E-350 chassis's. They love the trucks. nice handling and ride, reasonable layout and good use of interior space. Nice fit & finish.
That said the only thing I didn't think was a smart idea when i looked them over, was the way they had the chassis batteries in the same exterior compartment as the electronics for the box. Something about off gasing batteries and printed circuit boards in the same compartment doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Or putting your electronics in an exterior compartment where weather can get to it.
Other than that a well made truck!

My Dept. has used several diffrent ambulances WheeldCoach, Marc3,Horton etc... We recently started with Medtech out of Goshen Indiana. Nice ambulance solid construction many nice features. I am currently specing another. We have stuck with Medtech as they have been the best quality we can find along with great service. We have 4 with #5 do in Jan. of 09. Our dept. runs aprox. 5000 plus calls ayear. So far Medtech are the best.

Our Ambulance Service has been considering the Crestline Apex model (Possibly a Commander) for the past two years. I'm very impressed with their products but have been concerned about their footprint in the US. I plan on visiting the factory in the coming weeks and I will try to keep you posted.
I'm so tired of what the other manufacturers have been producing these days especially for fleet orientated companies. I have found most to be consistently-inconsistent in their build outs. The other major change this round is Ford to Chevy!! OUT WITH THE 6.0L!!!!
Good Luck
