25 Counties Under Burn Ban
Saturday, 27 September 2008 12:02
Officials in 25 Kentucky counties have banned outdoor burning in as dry conditions continue across much of the state.
Kentucky Division of Forestry spokeswoman Lynn Brammer says the counties are: Anderson, Bath, Carter, Clark, Daviess, Fayette, Fleming, Floyd, Henderson, Hopkins, Jessamine, Johnson, Lawrence, Logan, McLean, Madison, Magoffin, Marshall, Martin, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Oldham, Pike, Rowan, Union and Webster.
Meanwhile, Kimberly Morgan of the Daniel Boone National Forest says visitors to the forest are advised to use extreme caution with fire.
She says the public should consider the risk of campfires when camping in the forest, especially in the backcountry.
Forest Service Manager Tim Eling of the Red River Gorge says the gorge is very dry and a burning ban may be implemented as early as next week unless significant rainfall occurs.
