Hey guys I was just wondering if any of the guys on here from Boston know if BFD is going to have a hiring freeze for a while. I am a Boston resident, non-vet, took the test in April, along with the PAT in July, and scored in the 15 band which is a 99 or 100. I am currently in the 130's on the list and was wondering if I had any chance of getting a card. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I know this isnt helping you, but i was wondering what they consider for residence in Boston. Does any of the surrounding cities count like Brookline or Dorchester?

Dorchester is part of the city of Boston while Brookline is not, so Dorchester would satisfy the residency requirement. I've pretty much answered my own question. In these economic times it is going to be nearly impossible to get on BFD.

Not getting my hopes up for any large scale hiring but the Boston Fire Department is having an open house tomorrow at the Resource Ctr., 367 Western Ave Brighton, 11am-1pm. They've also updated the employment section of the website and there's a short practice test for the Mass. Fire Exam. I'll try to shoot over there around noon and if I get any more info I'll post it here.
