Denver 2009 Test

Has anyone heard about the Denver Fire test for 2009? I received an email from the contact person asking everyone who had submitted an interest form if they were still interested. I have sent him an email as well as called to say I am still interested and also asked when the test might be, but I haven't heard back.

There was never a test administered in 2009, and their won't be.

And the DROCG Test in June, from what I've read on here, is a waste of time unless you at least have your EMT-B right? What if you take the test in June and send in your certifications after you finish an EMT class?

There is never any harm in taking a test, it puts you on a list. How DRCOG works is different, each dept. has their own requirements. Most want at least the EMT-B. More want that with FFI, along with some experience. It all depends on what the dept. or city HR decide will be suitable for pooling a list of qualified applicants.

I may just head out to Denver for the June test. Plane tickets are extremely cheap right now and I am seriously considering moving there anyways after I graduate from college this May.

If you are interested in Denver, consider testing with the metro Denver departments as well as Denver itself. There are dozens of departments in the metro area, and putting yourself out there in numbers will greatly enhance your chance of getting hired with a Denver department.

I know a Chief on Denver Fire who started his career with a suburban dept. He kept taking the Denver test, and eventually hired on. I thought he was crazy for starting over, but he knew what he wanted and it paid off for him.

So if you're committed to working for Denver, consider the options.

Yes. Denver, DROCG, but also extend south to Colorado Springs, and North to Fort Collins. I don't believe those cities are included in the DROCG, and the commute may not be ideal, but I know several people who drive it everyday.

Just an FYI there is no DROCG...only DRCOG: Denver Regional Council Of Governments.
