Difference between LA County and LA City

Hey guys, just interested in the two departments and wanted to know, well, what exactly is the difference between LA County and LA City fire departments? Is there a difference? If so, please elaborate.

i'm wondering the same thing.

it seems like LAFD is the more prominent department here on the boards. maybe it's because la county isn't hiring now?

is the lafd more prestigious than the county?

also, is the pay comparable?

In my 33 years with the County I have seen about 20 guys come to the County from the City. And they were very happy about doing it. None that I heard of that went to the City
Pay about the same, I understand the County retirement is better.
