Anybody have any word on any areas in or around Boston that will be hiring soon. I know there have been a bunch of lay offs. I have veterans preference and have been number one on the civil service list for Winthrop for almost two years now. The waiting game is getting old. Any info would be great. Thanks Semper Fi

No one will be hiring for a while. If I were you I would move to Boston and get residency there and hope they hire in the next 3 years. Remember they do have an age cut off though too. There is projected to be 200 to 300 layoffs by this time next year, and they will all get hired back first. Some stimulus money might get put for staffing, but I doubt it with good old Cadillac Deval.

Obama giveth and Deval taketh away.

But rest assured the state is still going ahead with the "free cell phones" for welfare recipients. They may just not have any first responders to come to their free 911 calls though.
