I'm in the backgrounds stage. The investigator says I'm cleared and now just have to wait for Civil Service to contact me about the next step (if I get a conditional offer). It's been a slow process. They've had my group's stuff for about 4 months; they say they only turn them back in to City Hall when all are done.
I took the written back in March and the physical agility in April. I got a 95 on the written and passed the physical agility.
When was the last written given, or when did you take it? I heard they stopped taking applications recently.
And if you don't me asking in turn, what was your score?

It took me a year to get a cond offer. I couldn’t make my doctors appointments, so I had to start over.

Thanks, good luck to you too.
I don't know my place on the list. I asked but they just said that I did "good".
It will be a year in October since I dropped the app. I wish I could plan a little further out, but I have a good EMS job in the meantime.

I don’t think there is a list. You have to get an 88 on the test to move on to the physical agility.

I have the written test on Nov 21st. Whats the next step after that? I have talked with the civil service rep, but they did not provide many details into the process! I imagine it goes like... written test, cpat, background check, poly, interview, medical, and then conditional offer?

i just took this last test on the 26th of september also, and then the physical test the next weekend and now im in the background stage too. I heard its 2 months before they clear you for this step.... A friend sent his out in august and just got his back and cleared to go. They told him to be ready for the academy in january. Wonder when ours will be!

I sent in my app last march and was supposed to attend the August test, but was rescheduled for November... do you think there might be multiple classes coming up? How many people do they need? Once you finished the test you had the cpat the following weekend?

They say they arent taking any more applications as of now. So if you have yours in you should be fine,, you take the writtem test then about a week later they tell you to go do the physical if you passed, then background, etc. about a year process before you get in the recruit class.

I talked to some at the training school last week who said the 2010 academies are up in the air at the moment due to probable budget issues. Maybe regular number of recruits/classes, maybe less/smaller classes. He really wasn't sure though - just pointed out that there was some uncertainty.
Has anyone else heard anything along these lines?

I actually tested in Feb of this year and finally have my psych and interview scheduled for next feb. Figured it takes about a year.
