While doing research for a paper, I came across an interesting site on vehicle safety, vehicle testing and various bits of information, statistics, and videos on air bags, 5 MPH bumpers, etc. It might be a good source of info. for those involved in public education in the area of injury prevention in MVA's, i.e. use of seat belts, infant car seats, teenage driver education, etc.

I believe it is sponsored by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety and is supported by a conglomeration of insurance companies.

The web address is: http://www.hwysafety.org/default.htm

I hope it is of interest. If you have the time, download and watch the BMW head protection system test video. It took about 10-15 minutes to download but after watching it, I have a whole new outlook on head injuries and C-spine protection, especially when it comes to side impact collisions with immobile objects.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety organization mentioned in the opening post of this thread is the group that supported me in my University of Extrication series on minivans at the end of the 1997 season. Great group! Great information!

Couple of other URLs to look at include;

"RESCUE PROCEDURES FOR AIRBAG EQUIPPED VEHICLES"

"AIR BAGS: POTENTIAL FOR INJURY"
