Merging and Co-Op

Our fire company was recently approached about a merger, but being in differnt municipalities and some other various reasons this seems unfeasible to many members of the company. We still want to get involved and thought of merging relief associations or creating a co-op. No other companies in our area have tired a co-op so we would like any information regarding co-ops or any other insights that may be useful.

You might be looking for an Automatic Mutual Aid Agreement. Our department has such an agreement with our neighbors where when they have a structure fire we send a pumper/tanker and at least 2 firefighters(usually more). When we have the fire they do the same. We often share training and have a very good working relationship.
