What are some short 1 day drills that your agency uses to train rescuers for structural collapse?

Check out Mike Browns "concrete rodeo" in this months Fire Engineering. Fun stuff.

We have a healthy supply of concrete and wood products to set up scenarios. There are slabs, pipes, blocks, Jersey dividers, we also have alot of sheetrock and 2x4 studs. We have previously built what Spec Rescue Intl refers to as the "fun House" which is simply the following: One piece of 24 or 36 ID RCP with a sheetrock and stud wall on the end, this leads to the next pipe section which then leads to a steel wall, once that wall is breached with the Oxy-Acetelyne torch, there is another pipe leading to a concrete wall at the end. They need to drag the jackhammer or saw in there to breach it.

This gives the guys a chance to work in small areas and breach different materials as well as evacuate a patient from the confined area. For non breaching we have ADS 24" ID pipe for small space packaging drills.

So its: Pipe-wall(light frame)-Pipe-wall(steel)-Pipe-wall(concrete)
