I need information/opinions on the Hypertherm Max 43 Plasma Cutter.
We used a plasma cutter during a breaching and breaking class a few years ago. I cannot say the brand for sure, but it required a 50amp service on 220volt. They work great for precision type cutting and dont make tons of sparks, but for speed or thick stuff they slow the process down. Good tool to have in the toolbox though.

Unsure about the mfg. of the brand you mentioned.
I'll echo e33's comments about plasma cutters. Good tools to have and use if needed. Check with a local welding eqt. supplier for a variety of models to choose from. Ask for a factory rep to come out and demo the units.

Is a Plasma cutter the same thing as an Exothermic Torch?? If so NAJO manufactures one.
If I am incorrect, someone please post a reply to this and correct me. Thanks

The plasma cutter is different than a Exothermic Torch the plasma produces less sparks and is used to make finer cuts. The plasma cutter uses compressed air and elect.to cut. the Exothermic Torch is sloppy but cuts fast and will cut through heavier metals. My knowledge is very limited on the plasma cutter.

We have one ordered for the maintenance shop. It is supposed to cut up to 3/4" steel. I'll
post more after we get it and play with it a little.
