I have read the other responses to the liteline ad and I still must voice my distaste for this " slip up"
These firefighters were my brothers and I am very upset that your magazine let this get by. I know that mistakes happen and I make more than mosat. Still if I had the responsibilty of presenting a publication to the firefighters of this nation I would hire someone to proof read EVERYTHING that goes into it. BUT... that cost money...Lord help us not to spend a dollar that we don't have to just to guard against hurting someone or the memory of some very brave and gallant firefighters that sacraficed their lives to try to help others.
Please understand that I realize this was an error and that appoligizes are being made...BUT the damage has been done to the firefighters that read the ad and to the memory of the ones who gave their all. NOTHING can set that aside or make it up to anyone. If I ever answer my Last Alarm please don't look for something to sell

I don't see the problem with the ad, as a matter of fact I sent Liteline an E-Mail (No reply as yet) with some observations & suggestions. 1st I thought that the members of Worcester FD who heard these words real time would cetainly enjoy reading them in print. 2nd I suggested that new adds could show a body being removed from the Cold Storage building with the appropriate "Don't let this happen to you!" ad. I even suggested they submit an ad with a photo of one of the guys graves, with a hand coming up pointing to their product.
The fact is Liteline has whored themselves out using the memory of 6 great men, one whom I knew personally. The only use I can see for their equipment at this point is to lead their ad executive out the door to the unemployement line. This will only happen, along with an apology to the fire service and the Worcester Firefighters, if someone at Liteline has a conscience.

I now remeber why I dropped my subscription to this magazine! I can not believe that the editors of this magazine are that cold and heatless that they would allow anyhting like that to be placed inside the covers of this magazine. I guess we should find out what horrors have befallen the people who produce Liteline and place them inside of ads for other products. I was one of those that stood in formation an payed respect to those brothers inside the Cold Storage Building in Worcester. In my 25 years in the fire service I never felt so empty and torn as I did in December of last year. If I was a family member who had lost a loved one in Worcester, I would pay a visit in person and have a matter of fact discussion with the profound person that thought up this wonderful ad campaign. You can be asured that I would never recommend or even consider a purchase of any produced by this company, DOES the word "BOYCOTT" mean anything to you?SRC="http://www.firehouse.com/interactive/boards/uploads/fire ghost.jpg">

It appears adequate apologies have been made and since the originator of this topic invoked the Lord's name I will close with it:

Our Father which art in heaven...
and forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sin against us...

"To err is human, to forgive divine."

It never surprises me to the lengths people will go to sell a product.
