Looking for a 14' rigid hulled boat for water rescue purposes. Our department responds mainly to small lakes and ponds and the occasional flood. Would like to hear from others about features you have or wish you had. Specifically interested in brand names and web sites for more info.

A great boat for the application you discriped is Rivercraft. This boat is a very light weight aluminum hulled air boat with extremly shallow draft. The payload of this craft is comparible to larger craft with out the weight. You can visit their web site www.rivercraft.net. (http://www.rivercraft.net.) They are located in Norwich New york.

Take a look at "OCEANID". They have two types of boats. One is storable on your truck, can accomplish ice rescues, swift water & low head dam rescues. The other is a powerboat that is unbeliveably stable with the most work space available. WWW.OCEANID.COM (http://WWW.OCEANID.COM)

Go with a light weight flat bottom. This will allow you to carry the boat to the scene if it happens to be in a remote area. Also have a smaller motor for this application and a larger one for flood emergencies. River craft is great for swiftwater and low head dam rescue but is less effective for recovery ops. Have your guys take a swiftwater tech class, keep the boat wet and have fun. Good Luck.
