<br />LANCASTER, PA: <br />Haz-Mat Incident affects US Route 30
On, Wednesday, January 2, 2001, around 0830 hrs. the Rohrerstown Fire Company, along with the West Hempfield Fire Company were dispatched to Route 30- East between Running Pump Road and Marietta Ave in East Hempfield Township.
Engine 67-1 (Rohrerstown) and Rescue 76 (West Hempfield) arrived to find a overturned placard tanker truck. Both units staged out and sent limited personal to establish if the truck was filled with any product and check for any leaks. At this time Command 67 closed both directions of Route 30 between Rohrerstown and Centerville Road’s, as a precaution. 2 engines and 4 tankers were placed on Route 30 under Running Pump Road with remote deck guns placed about 500’ towards the tanker truck to protect the crew removing the product.. Haz-Mat crews assisted with the removal of the product, with help from the company that owns the truck. The product was off loaded onto a 2nd tanker truck, after this was completed the tanker truck was then uprighted by tow trucks around 1900hrs. After the tanker truck was removed both directions of Route 30 were reopened by 2100 hrs. Multiple agencies were on the scene assisting command with the operations of the incident. Chief 67 (C. Irwin) had the command of the incident. Surrounding companies handled other calls in our first due for us.

On, Wednesday, January 2, 2001, around 0830 hrs. the Rohrerstown Fire Company, along with the West Hempfield Fire Company were dispatched to Route 30- East between Running Pump Road and Marietta Ave in East Hempfield Township.
Engine 67-1 (Rohrerstown) and Rescue 76 (West Hempfield) arrived to find a overturned placard tanker truck. Both units staged out and sent limited personal to establish if the truck was filled with any product and check for any leaks. At this time Command 67 closed both directions of Route 30 between Rohrerstown and Centerville Road’s, as a precaution. 2 engines and 4 tankers were placed on Route 30 under Running Pump Road with remote deck guns placed about 500’ towards the tanker truck to protect the crew removing the product.. Haz-Mat crews assisted with the removal of the product, with help from the company that owns the truck. The product was off loaded onto a 2nd tanker truck, after this was completed the tanker truck was then uprighted by tow trucks around 1900hrs. After the tanker truck was removed both directions of Route 30 were reopened by 2100 hrs. Multiple agencies were on the scene assisting command with the operations of the incident. Chief 67 (C. Irwin) had the command of the incident. Surrounding companies handled other calls in our first due for us.

1996: 2 Alarms + Special Call An Additional Truck(18), 5 Medics(2, 4, 9, 12, 15), & EMS Supervisor(4) - Box#743 - 1018hrs - 543 N Fulton Ave - West Baltimore - Fire involved an occupied 3 story brick rowhouse - 6 children were trapped on the 2nd & 3rd floors by the fire - 6 children & 3 adults were rescued from the dwelling - 2 of the children died of smoke inhalation & burns @ the University Of Maryland Shock/Trauma Center - This was the city's 1st fatal fire of 1996.
