LOS ANGELES, CA
STRUCTURE FIRE:
On Saturday, January 19, 2002, at 1535 hours (3:35 p.m.) eleven companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, two Battalion Officer Command Teams, and two LAFD Rescue Ambulances, under the direction of Assistant Chief Michael Fulmis, responded to a Greater Alarm Structure fire at 3846 South Arlington Avenue in the Crenshaw area. First units on the scene reported a two-story 4-plex, with one unit on the second floor well involved with fire. Initial reports by neighbors indicated that an explosion might have occurred prior to the fire. Firefighters using handlines aggressively attacked the fire extinguishing it in thirty-five minutes. An adjacent unit on the second floor sustained moderate damage. At least two families were displaced as a result of the fire. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is listed as under investigation. Fire damage is estimated at $70,000. ($60,000 structure and $10,000 contents).
